Continuing Legal Education 2014

Snyder & Snyder, LLP attorneys Leslie Snyder and Jordan Fry presented a Continuing Legal Education Course entitled, “Zoning Boards of Appeal: Understanding Variances and Nonconforming Uses” to the Westchester Municipal Planning Federation. The presentation outlined the key functions of Zoning Boards of Appeals, and provided a case digest of recent New York land use law decisions. The cases were presented in one of four categories: area variances, use variances, Zoning Board interpretations of zoning ordinances, and nonconforming uses. Snyder & Snyder, LLP has enjoyed providing case law updates to the Westchester Municipal Planning Federation since 2005.

Partner Robert D. Gaudioso presented a Continuing Legal Education Course entitled, “FCC Report and Order, Acceleration of Broadband Deployment by Improving Wireless Facilities Siting Policies.” The Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act of 2012 (the “TRA”), was passed by Congress and signed by the President on February 22, 2012. The Wireless Facilities Deployment provision of the TRA, Section 6409, presents opportunities to streamline modernization of existing wireless facilities and to deploy new cell sites through collocation in some cases. The CLE Course examined the FCC Report and Order adopted on October 17, 2014 regarding the implementation of Section 6409 and the 2009 FCC Declaratory Ruling, also known as the Shot Clock Order.
